Here, I experimented with structure and the interplay between “rules of three” - spheres, doorways and colours.

Interior #5

Oil pastel and pencil; 420 x 594 mm

This is essentially a collage, involving print media, and bit of a painting I made of water and rocks. I then added greaseproof paper and tin foil, mostly for texture, before adding paint and penwork.

Collage #2

Collage, mixed media, acrylic, and pen work; 420 x 594 mm

I began with a photo of a kitchen that never was. It was built - and damaged - for a film set. Working with felt tips, I went for an acid palate.

Interior #7

Pencil, felt-tip marker; 297 x 420 mm

I built this image in layers. Then I masked areas in the collage to realise and bring forward this form of a woman.

Collage #3

Collage, mixed media, oil pastel, and pencil on paper; 420 x 594 mm

In 2021 I visited a disused bank in Liverpool. When I walked through it, I was struck by how this building was made to last “forever”. It is obselete but too expensive to demolish.

Interior #2

Acrylic on canvas; 297 x 420 mm
